An Idiot Abroad – New Faces

Following on from The previous instalment I have gone out and brought some new faces to the club. I have targeted a rightback/wingback, leftback/wingback and goalkeeper.

The Goalkeeper – We have brought in former fan favourite Stefano Tarolli. Stefano got his dream move in 2020 to join a “big club” AC Milan bought him for £2.4m from Modena. Seeing the boy on the transfer list wanting a chance to prove himself we took the opportunity to put a cheek offer of £1.4m in for his services. Milan took the bait and we have a solid back up goalkeeper in the ranks with knowledge of the club. (Happy Days!) I can’t blame the boy for leaving as he had no first team game time during his spell.

(Not sure of the Andromeda Skin – Please provide feedback – )

The Right Back – Pol Lirola – Or Poly has joined us from Bayern for £6.75m. The boy has never had a settled home. His previous time in Italy saw him spend very little time at his parent club Juventus. In fact, Poly was down the road for two seasons marauding down the right flank for Sassuolo! He then got a huge move to Bayern for £23.5m where he played a handful of games before spending time at Bayern II. The following seasons saw Poly out on loan in Spain and Germany. The travelling right back joins us to offer stiff competition for the right back/wingback position, and at 23yrs old I feel we still have the chance to improve the boy’s attributes and hopefully help him fulfil his potential.

The Left Back – Luca Germoni. Luca is no stranger to the club having been on a two season long loan with Modena for the last two seasons from Lazio. The previous management didn’t activate the buy now option on eBay during the loan period due to a series of injuries that prevented Luca from claiming much participation. However, we have taken the opportunity to bring Luca in permanently as he is a perfect fit for the tactics we hope to deploy. With Pezzella and youth product Caiazzo we believe the left back/wingback position is now covered with the necessary caution of injury, but we do truly hope Luca is now over the troubled time and can find sustained fitness to show what he is capable of on the pitch rather than on the hospital bed.LGer

The curve ball addition – Alessio Miceli. That’s right Alessio Miceli. Another player who has previously been at the club, on loan. You’ll notice that the picture of Al has been refreshed as the previous one made the boy look like Sloth from the Goonies! Al joins Modena for £7.5m from Lazio with the world at his feet. At 21 yrs old I have the chance to cultivate him into a leading “Libero” or a key defensive midfielder to link our “Libero”.

Owt Else???

Not Really! I am scouting Gigi Donnarumma as I have seen that he is slightly ahead of J.Lo’s development. And unlike J.Lo, Gigi would be classed as homegrown by nationality.

We are also looking at Jadon Sancho of Dortmund, the 21 yr old has had a mixed bag of fortune in Germany and could provide a great link up with fellow Englishman Reiss Nelson. Whoever, with Rodrygo and youth product Francesco Grifoni we do not have a desperate need for a left winger (inside forward).

Hold the Press!!!!!!

After assessing the more advanced positions we decided to take a look at the market and at a few players that would hopefully appease the board due to their reputation as being “high profile”.

We continued with the immediate interest in Gigi Donnarumma, we even expressed an enquiry of availability. The word no was expressed firmly back to us from the Milan board. We have taken the answer for now but we will keep a firm eye on Gigi over the next season. I do believe that it is a deal that we could complete if we pursue of a course of time. And I think if the club continues in the same direction it has followed in the last few seasons an increased reputation may help our bid for Italy’s number one stopper.

So that was the indifferent news.

Our biggest signing of the summer (financial outlay/transfer fee) is another player mentioned above.

Jadon Sancho – Has joined us from Dortmund for a whopping £21m (deal that was carried out by Walter Sabatini our DoF). I raised the requirement of Jadon to Walter as a matter of urgency, as during preseason I have grown to see the frailty of Ricardo Campos. A player who has been at the club since its rebirth, initially on loan from Juventus, and then made permanently in 2019. The boy has had some growing pains in the last 12 months. With five separate injuries, four minor and one major. Resulting in a lack of game time during the 2020/21 season (He only played in 12 first team games, 4 starts and 8 sub appearances) and possibly a pause in his development. Jadon on the other hand has only had three minor injuries in the last 12 months. Fingers crossed he can remain injury resistant. JaSa

And the biggest transfer for Modena was not the most expensive but will hopefully shape the clubs immediate future on the pitch along with raising the profile of the club off the pitch.

Please welcome CR7 aka Cristiano Ronaldo to Fc Modena.

Ron at Mod

Ronny joins us from Real Madrid for £6m a deal that has probably caught the footballing world off guard. We approached Madrid over Cristiano’s availability after they had brought in Romelu Lukaku from Man Utd. Ronny had expressed his unhappiness over the deal and had looked to sort assurances of playing time from the Madrid management. I can only assume that those assurances were not met. Because the moment we opened the chairman’s wallet Ronny was keen to join our band of young players.

CR7

Ronaldo brings a lot of experience to our club which before this transfer had an average age of the first team of 21 yrs old. Ronny will play a leading role spearheading the forward line along with mentoring Pietro Pellegri. I am hoping PP will pick up a few titbits from Ronny as I think he will be next big thing for us and Italy if he can continue his rate of development.

There will be no further transfers in to the club at this period.

Thank you for your time, the next update will inform you about tactics and the preseason progress.  Ciao for now.
